Have you ever been riding past a roadside sign in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, and only been able to catch a few words as you sped by? Have you ever been standing in front of a historical marker and after having read it, wondered what the rest of the story was? By their nature, the markers have to cram a lot of information into a small place, and it becomes difficult for travelers to be able to read the entire text in a very short period of time. Also, once a person has the opportunity to take their time and read the text up close, the limited space on a historical marker cannot always adequately explain the history that the marker was placed to represent. This book attempts to solve both of these problems by giving the text of each marker in an easily readable format while also recounting and expanding the history behind each of them. It can be used as a guide to finding and visiting our over 100 Beaver County historical sites, or it can allow casual readers to experience our history without leaving the comfort of their armchairs.
