The Beaver County Historical Research and Landmarks Foundation invites you to learn about the Whiskey Rebellion. Join us for our Annual Meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 23 in the Jurors Lounge of the Beaver County Courthouse, 810 3rd St., Beaver. Clay Kilgore, executive director of the Washington County Historical Society, will discuss the uprising among Western Pennsylvania farmers and distillers in protest of the “whiskey tax” enacted by the federal government. There is no charge.

This week end travel to the various local communities to see period reenactments, crafts and demonstrations. Hear about the history of each community and it’s beginnings.
Historic Mothers Day Tea

Please join us at the Vicary Mansion for a historic Mothers Day Tea. Call 724 775 1848 for reservations or questions. Reservations are due by May 12th.

Come celebrate with our community as we host various historic crafters and demonstrators and give guided tours explaining the history of the Captain William Vicary Mansion. You will see quilters, tatters, lace makers, scherenschnitte (paper cutting), weavers, woodcutters, bakers and gardeners!
Penn State Master Gardeners will share their knowledge of the Vicary Gardens, which include herbs, annuals and perennials of the early 19th century.
There is no fee for this event but donations are appreciated.

Ft. McIntosh, located in the 600 block area of River Road, Beaver, Pa This is the site of the First American Regiment of the U.S. Army, 1778-1788. Come out and enjoy a day of reenactments, period craftsman, medicine and Native American activities.

Don’t let another year go by without stopping in for some apple butter and freshly baked bread. Try your hand at stirring the apples the traditional way in a copper kettle on an open flame! We use locally grown apples, donated by our friends at McConnells’ Farm and Market, Aliquippa. Take a few jars home. They can be purchased at the mansion gift shop.
While you’re here, visit the Mansion. Stroll around the grounds. Step into the home of William Vicary, sea merchant. Inside you will also find our gift shop including tea pots, table runners, tea towels, etc. and a wide variety of books for the history enthusiast.
Best of all, we have no admission charge, but donations are appreciated.

6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Join us for tales, local legends, and hauntings of Beaver County, told by guest speakers. Bring a chair and stories to share while sitting by the fire.
The mansion will be spooktacularly decorated for all ages!
There is a $5 fee for this event.
After closing at 8:30, a special session will be held from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. exploring the methods and equipment used to conduct a paranormal Investigation.
Space is limited and pre-registration and fee is required to attend this session.

2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
You don’t want to miss the mansion which will be decorated in its full Christmas glory!
Various live Christmas trees will highlight decorations of different eras. Be sure to stay for the lighting of the wax candles on the table top Civil War era tree at 5:30 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m.
