Historian Charles Townsend will share the forgotten history of the small community of Cannelton and Watts Mill Bridge area, now part of Darlington Township. The area was settled in 1795 and was along the Sandusky Trail which eventually became the main road between Pittsburgh and Cleveland. As a central traveling point the area attracted an early Indian camp, trading post, grist mill and coal mining operation. The Darlington Cannel Coal Railroad was built in 1852.
